Loadmaster Training Course

In-depth weight & balance training for Loadmasters

Introduction

Managing aircraft weight and balance is a complex, highly pressured task which sees personnel working to tight schedules, following many regulations and industry best practices, and doing so on a variety of aircraft types. The role of the Loadmaster is vital to ensuring safe and compliant operations across multiple process streams.

This training course takes participants through both the fundamental and more advanced techniques used to calculate and prepare aircraft weight and balance documentation. Initially focussing on narrowbody aircraft, the course then progresses on to widebody and multi-sector operations before finally focussing on pure freighter aircraft.

The core theory is explored within this course, followed by a series of practical and real-world exercises in weight and balance documentation which simulates authentic scenarios and prepares participants for a final exam.

Participants should note that this training course is intensive and requires total commitment, with pre-course reading and homework material accompanying the course.

This course is designed to be in conformance with the applicable elements of the latest version of IATA AHM 1110 and applicable sections of PART CAT - EU 965/2012.

Please note: Restraint in respect to Special Cargo (FAA definition) is not covered by this qualification.

The duration of this course is five days.

This course is often combined with our Turnaround Coordinator and Dangerous Goods Awareness Category 10 training courses.

We also offer a Load Control Training Course which is similar, but different, to this course (add link here).

1. Why is it important?

A well loaded aircraft can often provide its operator with various efficiencies including reduced fuel burn, improved handling, and time savings, among other benefits. The Loadmaster role is generally a very hands-on role with various elements requiring simultaneous attention. It is safety critical, and a regulatory requirement, that all aircraft are loaded in compliance with relevant industry standards and best practices.

2. Who should attend?

Existing or new Loadmasters of a GHSP or airline operator, or anyone in a role which may require detailed knowledge of this subject, would benefit from this training course.

Please note: we only offer this course for our clients as an ‘in company’ training course. Unfortunately, we don’t currently provide this course for private individuals.

3. Course objectives

To give participants a detailed knowledge of, and the skills required to plan, calculate and finalise aircraft weight and balance documentation.
