Basic Aircraft Load Control Training Course

Weight & Balance training for Load Controllers and Load Planners

Introduction

The aircraft weight and balance world is a complicated, high-pressure environment that sees personnel working with various time-driven handling scenarios, aircraft types, limitations, industry best practices, and regulations. The role of the Load Controller is varied and can operate in local or centralised environments but is key to delivering safe and compliant operations.

This training course guides participants from the basic principles of calculating and preparing aircraft weight and balance documentation to some of the more advanced techniques. Focussing initially on narrowbody aircraft, the course progresses onto widebody using typical scenarios.

Although the first half of the course is essentially theory-based, the second half consists of a series of weight and balance and complete documentation exercises, simulating authentic scenarios, and getting participants ready for the final exam.

Participants should be aware that this is an intensive training course with pre-course reading and homework, so total commitment is required.

The course is designed to be in conformance with the applicable elements of the latest version of IATA AHM 1110 and applicable sections of PART CAT - EU 965/2012.

The duration of this course is five days.

This course is often combined with our Turnaround Coordinator and Dangerous Goods Awareness Category 10 training courses.

We also offer a Loadmaster Training Course which is similar, but different, to this course.

1. Why is it important?

It is both critical and a regulatory requirement that all aircraft are loaded in compliance with applicable aircraft and other limitations. A well-loaded aircraft can often provide its operator with various efficiencies such as (but not limited to) fuel, handling and time efficiencies. Good planning techniques and preparation are the keys to successful and safe operations.

2. Who should attend?

Existing or new Load Planners, Load Controllers of a GHSP or an Airline, and anyone who requires detailed knowledge of this subject would benefit from attending this course.

Please note: we only provide this training course for our clients as an 'in company' training course. Unfortunately, we don't offer this course for private individuals.

3. Course objectives

To provide participants with the detailed knowledge and skills required to plan, calculate and finalise weight and balance documentation.
