Time is money; every minute counts. Eurocontrol 2019 statistics suggest that ground delays, including those incurred by aircraft turnaround, are the second-highest delay category across Europe. Industry data indicates that delays cost the operator an average of between €50-60 per minute.

Falling foul of the EC261/2014 (delay compensation) regulations can be a very costly business with a full Airbus A320 potentially creating a compensation bill of up to €108k bill for the operator, far beyond the revenue that the flight generated. You can't get a better incentive to optimise your operations.
